Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monster

Today in reading we were told to read for 10 minutes and I've read up to Percy and Annabette bringing in Tyson to the camp which is called Camp Half-Blood.
It's a camp for demigods the son or daughter of a God like (Zeus, Athena, Poseidon) and a normal human.

The purpose of this story would be to entertain.
This story would suit 10 yrs and up.

Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monster

When I was reading in English for 10 minutes and I choose to continue the book I read on the 08/05/2018 which was Percy Jackson and I was up to Annabeth, Percy and Tyson arriving at the camp when they saw It was all messed up. The Half-Bloods were protecting the camp from two mechanic bull and Percy and Annabeth found out that Tyson was a cyclops who was abandoned. 

I read this because I love the book and it's really entertaining. I would say ten-year-old up would be a suitable audience for reading the book.

Mataraki (Music)



Traditionally, Matariki was a time to remember those who had died in the last year. But it was also a happy event – crops had been harvested and seafood and birds had been collected. With plenty of food in the storehouses, Matariki was a time for singing, dancing and feasting.

Matariki, or Māori New Year celebrations were once popular but stopped in the 1940s. In 2000, they were revived. Only a few people took part at first, but in just a few years thousands were honouring the ‘New Zealand Thanksgiving’. A special feature of Matariki celebrations is the flying of kites – according to ancient custom they flutter close to the stars.

Paper Spiral

Aim

To observe convection in a gas.

Equipment

-Scissors
-Paper Spiral Pattern
-String 
-Source of Heat (Boiling Water, Radiator, Etc)

Method

-Cut out a spiral pattern.
-Tie a length of the cotton through the hole on top of the spiral.
-Hold the spiral 30-40 cm above a heat source such as a Bunsen Burner.
-Observe.

Observations

-The spiral spun continuously in a circle.

The Imploding Can

Aim

To observe contraction in gases.

Equipment


-Aluminium can
-Scissor Tongs
-Bunsen Burner
-Heatproof mat
-Tripod
-Gauze mat
-An open container of water

Method 

-Set up a Bunsen burner underneath a tripod and gauze mat.

-Pour approximately 50-60ml of water into your can. It should be no more than 1/4 full.

-Heat the can of water until steam is seen escaping from the top.
Carefully grip the can with the scissor tongs. Ensure you have a firm hold of the can before lifting it off the gauze mat.

-Quickly, but carefully, invert the can as you plunge it into a container of water.

Discussion

-When we finished heating up the can we plunge it into the water and it shrinks into itself.

The Behaviour of Matter - Diffusion

Aim

To observe diffusion in a liquid.

Equipment

-250 ml Beaker
-Water Hot and Cold
-Tweezers
-A crystal of potassium permanganate
-Straw

Method

-Half fill your 250 ml beaker with cold water.

-Place the 250 ml beaker on your workbench and allow to become settled.

-Using the tweezers, place a single crystal of potassium permanganate in the bottom centre of the beaker using a straw.

-Observe for 5 minutes

-Repeat the experiment using hot water.

Discussion


-The particles in the hot water cause it to move more causing it to move apart eachother faster rather than the cold water.

Investigating State Changes (Matter)

Aim

To observe waster as it changes state from solid to liquid and then to a gas.

Equipment

-A 250 mL beaker.
-Thermometer.
-Bunsen burner.
-Heatproof mat.
-Tripod.
-Gauze mat.
-Stopwatch.
-Retort Stand.
-Clamp.
-Ice cube.

Method

-Collect enough ice so that your beaker is half full and place the thermometer into it while you set up the rest of the equipment.

-Set up the retort stand and clamp alongside the tripod and gauze mat.

-Place the beaker of ice on the gauze mat and gently clamp the thermometer so that it is held upright and the scale is easy to see. The bottom of your thermometer should be low enough to still be covered by water when the ice melts, but not touching the bottom of the beaker.

-Record the initial temperature of the ice in the data table.

-Light the Bunsen burner and start timing with the stopwatch.

-Measure and record the temperature every minute.

-Continue measuring and recording the temperature until the water has been boiling for 2-3 minutes.

Discussion

Using the word particles and energy explain why the ice melts.

When the heat is added, the particles vibrate so much that they break away. When more of the heat is added the heat's energy it slowly melts the ice away.`

Reflective Post (Revolting Children)

Reflection:


We have finished our choreography for Revolting Children there is still some stuff that people can't follow, but all-in-all it all goods.

What have I learnt?

I have learnt the moves for the choreography and stuff about things in a Musical Theatre.

How does this work show my learning? 

By participating in a school performance I learn how to dance and sing also it lessen my shyness and will make me more outgoing.

What did you find challenging?

What I find challenging is performing the dance move at the right time and syncing with the people beside me because they are either too slow or too fast.

What would I do differently if I do this again?

Focus more and be more energetic.

What did I enjoy?

Nothing I'm not really a person who likes performing in a show.

What am I wondering?

If we would do better if we did something else.

What was it like performing on the day?

It was really scary especially when most of the people performing with you aren't there and you're just thinking the dance will just fail because the dance was missing some people.
 I was really proud of myself for going through it and finishing even though some people weren't there.
