Sequence and Series

We have looked at sequence and series in art and we were tasked to analyse a previous NCEA work and find the series in the work.  We looked at the image below and we looked at how the whole work works together and how the designer tied everything together, and how gestalt worked.  The designer managed to tie all the panels together by using the characters, colours, how the letters were written and how techniques were used for each of the designs. This work showed a great understanding of sequence and series because it fits the artist kaupapa all the way through his work, and that's why he got excellent for it.

  1. Kia ora Nino, thanks for using the word 'gestalt'! Good job. This is a good summary of what you see. Can you see that for each mini brief there is concept sketches or images, followed by developments of a select number of what was most successful from these concepts, and then, followed by refining one or two of these further into a final design? If that is not clear, please zoom up and note it, because it is how you are going to be working on your folio too. It is essentially the design process in the front of your field notes book.
